With a 8 speed transmission 1st & 5th are in the same position on the transmission. 1st through 4 are with the second stick in low and 5th through 8th are with the second stick in high. Just so you know the second stick MUST be in the center / neutral position for the started to work. You might have to wiggle the the second stick a bit for the starter to engage. 8 speeds can be live PTO ( 2 stage clutch ) or transmission PTO ( single stage clutch ).
