Yup, the "ding dong" is probably the landowner who is sick and tired of people ending up in his driveway because they ignored all the other signs.
There are a LOT of people out there who would not "see" any of those signs.
Heck, about 5 years ago, I was following two friends down I-81 South of Binghamton. We needed to turn onto NY-17 East but the ramp was closed. There were GIANT ORANGE SIGNS on BOTH sides of the road for 2+ miles directing drivers to a detour to get to NY-17 East.
Well, these jokers went sailing right through ALL the signs, past the detour exit, and on into Pennsylvania.
Five hours later they finally showed up at the show. They had driven almost to Harrisburg, PA before they realized something was wrong. They didn't see any of the orange detour signs. They didn't see the "Welcome to Pennsylvania" sign.
It wasn't until they started seeing signs for Harrisburg that they realized their screw-up. They drove for hours.
