Was on business trip up there years ago. Airport was at/near Binghampton, on top of the hill. Aircraft was a Vicount turboprop commuter with about 6 aboard. Crew left the cockpit door open so I could watch the approach. Was interesting.
On the way to the destination by car, went through the Catskill mountains and saw rocks in strange formations protruding out of the ground at a 45 degree angle. Also looked to the side and on a relatively steep grass covered hill with trees farther up the slope I saw what appeared to be red cows.
I commented to my driver, a local and he said that those weren't cows, they were deer. I thought my my. No wonder you guys hunt in the winter. In Texas, unless out in W. TX in the Rockies where Mule Deer exist, the average White Tail Deer would dress out well under 100#
