I bought an old Cadet (15+ yrs old), 12-hp with hydrostatic drive. Great little tractor, mostly used to mow 3 hilly acres. However, when you head uphill you have to move the drive lever so far forward to maintain any kind of speed, that when you turn to go downhill it's like riding a racehorse. I understand that this type of drive does have this tendency, but this seems to be far, far worse than usual. Two mechanics have been unable to improve this. Is there an adjustment, or is something wrong here? Also, I got no manuals or instructions with the tractor. I've given up on getting anything from the local dealer after one whole summer of trying -- is there some source for at least basic instructions and minor repair/maintenance on old Cub Cadets? I have a yard full of attachments (rake, blade, vacuum, tiller, etc) and no clue as to how to install them. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
