I am not one to sell scrap. For what little I have I just give it away or put it in the trash.
Was gona make a run to the parish dump today when I noticed most of what I needed to take was old metal. Rotted out 55 gal drums used for burning; old dryer; couple of old bikes my son in law picked up for parts; ect. About filled up my 6.5 foot pickup bed.
So since the dump is 30 miles away and the scrap yard is only 15 I figured I would save some gas and just leave the real trash behind and take the metal to the scrap yard.
They marked it as Tin and Iron mix. $100.00GT Then I figured out a GT is 2240 lbs so that knocked it down to $89 a ton.
They could of kept the $14.30 I got if I could have bypassed the scale; parking; showing my drivers license; giving a fingerprint; and signing a form that said I really owned the stuff.
Dang crack heads must be having a hard time making ends meet with scrap prices as low as they are.
