Diesel Fuel Problem

I have a 1959 Ford 541 Workmaster row-crop, 4 cylinder diesel.
Problem; Tractor runs for just 15 or so minutes, then collects air in the fuel filter, and will eventually run out of fuel. Can shut down every few minutes and bleed air from filter to keep working.
I have removed and cleaned gravity flow line and filter screen from tank. Also cleaned tank and replaced fuel cap. Have checked for leaks under pressure and vacuum where possible. The air collects in the filter before the injector pump. Is this machine gravity feed only? Totally stumped. HELP!
