I worked in a fertilizer/ feed mill back in the 90s. One year around Memorial day one of the other guys asked if he could have Memorial day off. Fertilizer boss said if the farmers are working, we are working. He later went and asked the feed boss if he could have Memorial day off. Feed boss said he could so he didn't show up on Memorial day because the feed store part was closed. When he showed up on Monday, Fertilizer boss said go home and get your uniforms and bring them back, You don't work here anymore.
