Hi, thanks for your replies. Yes, the dealer is on the case. I have the necessary engineering know-how to make a modification to hold the spring but would not do anything without the dealer's and NH acceptance. I have been involved in the repair of NH and MF balers and other makes for nearly 40 years. Demand for small bales in the UK does seem to be growing again but there are very few new small balers sold in the UK at the moment. As I understand it the US is still a major producer of small bales and as such hopefully someone might have come across this problem with this or a previous generation of baler.
