I've seen some trees turning already, definitely some color contrast in them, one maple had fall colors. I watch the temperature maps, and or weather maps, to see whats headed this way, that front line passing through must have some cool air in it, the map sure read cool most of the day.
The majority of my '15-'16 firewood is all bucked, much of it since last fall, some this summer, all of it is checked nicely. I still have a few logs in the yard, Black Cherry, which dries very fast, some others scattered to gather up, just need to spend some time on the splitter now, then its out for all the remaining logs for next years wood. Actually have a tree job for tomorrow, that will bolster what I already have even more. If all goes well, I'll have next seasons done before this winter, at minimum bucked or blocked as many call it.
Garden did well, did get powder mold on both the summer squash, and the cucumbers, the latter of which I have never seen grow so well, the vine has escaped my fence in 2 directions, one right down the row of corn, the other around the corner onto the lawn. Tomatoes are about to let loose, I need to start checking daily for ripe ones, got my first yesterday actually late but good. The weather has been very pleasant when I think about some of the really hot and humid summers we've had, this makes 2 in a row, that have been just right.
It seems we get 90 days of bitter cold or lots of snow starting in January or February, so the remaining fall is usually fine, til December or so, last season I started burning firewood november 15th, and was able to to stop in early April.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
