Given the relative inflexibility in inputs such as seed and fertilizer I would shy away from corn if good management is only going to give me 130-150 bushels per acre. Unless I can contract a market high point in terms of price it is hard even on 160-170 bushels to make a profit. If it were me I would plant soybeans and apply 40-45 lbs of actual K or 90 pounds of potash per acre this fall as long as you know you have the ground. There are varieties that are not acutely sensitive to imperfect PH such as below 6.3 that will still yield respectably. Working with a seed salesman that is knowledgable versus being an order taker is a must here.
