Hi! I have a 27' plus 5' 20K capacity gooseneck. I pull it with a 2002 Ford super duty dually diesel regular cab w/6spd manual. My empty weight is 15,000. I plate it 26k to avoid dealing with fuel permits. My gvwr is 31,500. On a related topic: I gave up the owner/ operator gig about 15 years ago. The company I drive for has been very good about working with me if I have a load I want to haul. I tell them where it is; they quote me a rate; (usually a "bargain basement backhaul price); they bill it to me as they would any other customer; AND; I gat paid to haul my load the same as if any other load. I do pull a dry van and have hauled several loads of tractors and/or power units. 1 load consisted of 4 Moline Us and 3 6 cyl power units and another had 29 power units ( mostly Waukesha). Some other loads have not been quite as much. Do not know but you may try and see what your company will do. Then the only cost you have is the difference between what you get paid and what you pay for the haul bill. PLUS; you do not loose work time and their permits and insurance covers you and the load. Just something to think about!!!
