I think you get about the same light per watt with HPS as LED. All my outside lights are still HPS and I have no plan to change them out. I would go LED on a new installation because the light is whiter and easier for me to see in. I would think the HPS lights could be mounted in the shed area the same way we mounted the LED lights. It seems the HPS are about half the money of LED at this point.
I am still using high bay fluorescents in the the shop areas, but the flat LED high bays are getting better and cheaper all the time.
