Well to be honest, I'm not sure. It could be the color output, but metal halide can create different colors also. By the chart I saw the metal halide pulse start puts out about 4000 lumens which is still quite a bit more than the LED bulbs I pictured. The obvious benefit is the instant start and perhaps power savings, but if it takes 2 of them to make the same light then there is not much power savings.
