Then there is the other point of view, that in the middle of harvest you simply can't get away. At 9:00 PM the dealer is closed and you don't want to call the after hours. Everything is fresh on your mind and you want to just go ahead and get the order placed. You go online and look the parts up yourself and know you did it right. If not, you send an email and ask them to call you. Parts are ordered and drop shipped or dropped by the farm.
Or you are like my dad. You like to go to socialize rather than farm. Waste half a day going to town and the dealership. Spend $15 round trip on gas, lunch out at another $10 and of course a coke on the way there and back. Buy some add on crap at the dealer that was already on the shelf you didn't really need, but forgot you had because you weren't at the shop to look. And to top it all off, the dealer didn't have the part and has to order it. It will be another 2 days. "Do you want us to just ship it right to you?" "How much is that going to cost?" "Well, drop ship charge is $15.00 + freight, so around $50." "No, just call me and I'll come pick it up." Another 1/2 day and money spent.
Productivity my friends. That's the new goal. Productivity.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
