We've got a 5000# Mitsubishi forklift at the shop. It has very weak brakes, always has... Good solid pedal, no grease or fluid on the shoes, (just had it apart, didn't find anything wrong). We have a couple of ramps to get from the parking lot to the shop, even empty trying to stop on the ramp is nearly impossible!
It has simple non-power hydraulic brakes. I'm tossing around the idea of adding a remote vacuum booster, like would be used on a street rod. I looked on the internet briefly today, found some on Ebay, some rod shops, etc, but everything I found was hecho en china, no specs, very vague descriptions.
I thought about the vacuum boosters that were used on the old trucks, but they're too big. I have very limited room, no way to use a firewall mount booster. Even if I find a small unit, it will probably have to be mounted on top of the dash.
