Our twin girls were born while I was writing my graduate school thesis, in addition to our two year old daughter at the time. My wife would take the night shift while I slept, I would get up at 7 AM and then take over while she slept until 4 PM or so, and then I would sit down and try to write for six hours. Then repeat the cycle. Once I defended my thesis, we packed up and moved across the continent with four month old twins and our two year old in tow to set up life in a new city in a new country where we didn't know a soul. It's amazing how strong a relationship becomes when there is no one else to rely on.
Friends and family said that one day we would look back and laugh about those times-it took a few years but they were right. Our girls are all independent young women now, and we really wouldn't want to change a thing about how we did things.
Amazing how efficient one becomes at times like that.
