I personally don't like to listen to a cold engine hammer when it is started. Cold starts are one of the worst things you can do to an engine, even more so when it is a high compression engine. Nothing around our farm is an "emergency", we don't have animals, our days are usually planned the day before. If the driveway needs to be plowed or wood is going to be cut, the tractor needs to be used, and it is below 35 degrees F, it gets plugged in. Only takes an hour or two depending on how cold out it is, and it's just easier on it. There is always something to do in the meantime around here. We farm river lowlands, so our crops are usually late planted, and late harvested. We sometimes are combining in the end of December when it can be very cold here in MI. We keep a 2500 watt generator in the back of the farm truck, drive it out to the combine, plug it in, and go get the other things around while it is warming up. Get that done, go back and grease the combine and check it over, and it's ready to go. We like to put new injectors in our older tractors, helps them start easier hot or cold. If an engine is tired, we get the head done up right and rebuild the engine. A good set of batteries and an engine in good condition will usually start a lot better cold if it must be done.

The window was dirty and I was driving into the evening sun. It was hard to see and it was my first pass down the field. I got the tractor so stuck that the underside of the tractor was resting on the ground. My uncle wanted
