Well, after a hectic month of trying to get the 2002 F150's issues worked on/out, we decided that the better part of common sense was to trade the thing off! We dealed on a 2005 F250 Lariat SB just this past Thursday, 14 January 2016. Part of the deal was we would switch tires, since we had JUST bought new tires for the old truck before it's problem started - I doubt they had 300 miles on them.
The F250 came with 285/70/R17's, which were down to 30% or so. The F150 had the correct size - 265/70/R17's.
No big deal - since I had a knee replacement just before Thanksgiving, I got one of the neighbor's boys come up and pull the tires off the old truck, and block the thing up. I took them to the local small town (250 people) gas station to get them switched. So - I gave him 4 tires, still on the rims, and the four tires still on the F250. He basically had 8 dismounts, and 8 mounts, and balance the four going on the F250. He was NOT happy when I dropped the truck off Friday morning at 9:00 am!
I stopped in at 1:00, and he had them done! This is a guy in his 60's,working alone, and runs a full service station - and it was in the 20's outside (no place to pull the truck in).
When it got to the bill, he charged me a whole SEVENTEEN DOLLARS!
Yup - $17 for the WHOLE thing, not for each tire like most places would.
