: Have a '46 2N used as a working tractor on a small : acreage (been in the family for 40 years, so sentimental : value). Would like to convert to 12v alternator : system. Since the original is positive ground, what : must be done to starter if I put on a neg ground alternator? : Are the aftermarket conversions (such as sold by YT) : negative ground also? Any other tips for conversion? : Thanks! : Harold Aftermarket conversions are rather pricey. You can buy an alternator for about $30 from an auto parts store - get a Delco 17si, which is used in all Chevs since day one. See post up above for wiring scheme. As far as brackets, on the 2N you can take two short pieces of flat stock, drill some holes, and use washers for spacers. You have to get a little creative on the tightener. YOu can call Central Tractor, I think they will sell you the brackets alone or John.COLO will sell them to you. It's a relatively easy conversion, and if it is a working tractor, worth the effort. Email me if you have questions. JerryU
