I had battery blow on a Jeep pick-up some years ago. I had ben having some trouble starting truck and jumped battery several times. But it blew when I was in cab starting it on its own. Sounded like I had pulled both barrels of a double barrel. This subject came up several years ago and I stated that I always attached ground cable to jumped vehicle to the chassis away from the battery. Also that I always unscrew cell plugs to allow hydrogen to dissipate. Someone said that this could cause an explosion. But I disagree.... if gas dissipates into atmosphere, it will not build up in a confined space which could cause an explosion .
