I brought 12 acres to build on several years ago. Mostly open and in Hay with someone just cutting it. I got a couple of old tractors like you. Got frustrated with the guy cutting it. No lime, no fertilizer. Last straw came when I decided I would rent the county seed drill, buy the seed, if he would re seed it. He said call his buddy, but this would be great. I ended up paying for tractor time for his benefit. Fixed up an old mower (NH 450), brought a rake and a wagon at an auction, and found an old Case baler to match my tractors. Been selling hay to horse and goat folks for the last 6 years. What tractors do you have? A cub or an A, tomatoes and water melons for a roadside stand might work for an acre. Or find a 10 acre lot like I did, start getting the equipment while you look for the land, and do hay. But I am like you, grew up doing farm work, paid for some of my college baling hay, now that I work in an office all day, love getting outside on my tractors.
