trailer wheel lug bolt question

The lug nuts on one of hubs on my tractor hauling trailer got loose. My question is, do these lugs need to welded to the hub, or just pressed into place? I think the others my have been loosened because I may have not tightened the lug nuts down all the way on this one wheel. I had to have the nuts torched off and now need to put new lug bolts on the hub.

If the holes are wallered out, I'd pull the hubs, bolt a wheel to them, then braze them into the hub on the backside. That should keep things good and tight. Of course a perfectionist would either buy an new hub or machine the holes for oversize studs, but most of us are basically economy minded. Jeff King 16:34:06 9/17/98 (0)
