: My generator is kaput . Has anyone ever used a 6 volt single wire alternator to replace a generator on an N series tractor ? I can get an 80 amp for $80.00 and I wouldn't have to replace my battery , lights , etc. like I would going to 12 volt . : I am a machinist , so making it fit would be no problem . Other than changing polarity of the ground , are there any other changes needed ? Is this a good idea ? : Thanks in advance ! : Ford Man If you can get one that works, good deal. We've discussed this one before on this board. Couple of folks have said they have bought them and they don't work. All they really are is a 12 volt with a modified regulator. I'd be a little leery of them being able to handle the increased amperage demands of a 6 volt system. Jeff King
