I have a ferguson TO30. I need to replace the manifold and want to replace the studs. The ones I removed are 3/8x 1 1/2. Course threads on each end. I believe the book calls for course threads on the head side and fine threads on the manifold sides, although I'm not staring at the manual now. If I am wrong and the book calls for course threads on each end what is the harm if any using studs with fine threads on the manifold side? I can get the right bolts for $8 each at the massy dealer 😠. I can get fine thread for the manifold side locally for 75 cents each. Is it ok to use fine threads? What's the trade off if doing so? Thanks for any input, john.
