exhaust smoke from Case diesel

I have a 69 Case 580 CK. It does not burn oil & the thing has a lot of power but the color of the exhaust smoke is white. A previous message said that this was caused by water or coolant. The fuel tanks has been emptied w/ new fuel & Case diesel fuel conditoner added. Am I going to burn up the engine if I continue to run it w/ white exhaust smoke? Is it probably just a head gasket that needs fixed? I think it smokes less the hotter the engine get but I'm not sure. Any help is greatly appriciated. Thanks. Jim.
