It is said (I have never driven it) that hwy 2 in Nebraska is very scenic. Hwy 12 across the top of nebraska is pretty also. Fort Robinson in the northwest corner of NE is a neat experience, and nearby is toadstool park and the fur trappers museum. Like Goose said, Minden is good for a day. black Hills of SD and the badlands are neat. Falls Park in Sioux Falls SD is a good stop. Yankton SD is a neat town to go through. Watertown SD has the Terry Redding art gallery which is incredible even to a non artist person like me. Avoca Iowa I hear is neat. The arch in St Louis is neat, but don't take the wrong exit. Just stop into the local bar and ask the locals what to see, you'll get pretty good advice there too.
