Bob, I looked in my CASE-IH parts manual on CD-ROM. It covers ALL loader/backhoes from the early days up to the latest ones. The model #31 backhoe was used on tractor models 310D, 310E, 530, 540, 530SL. What's confusing is the single power steering cylinder. The 530's I've seen have the twin small cylinders tucked under the engine. The casing numbers unfortunately don't mean a whole lot. Different engines can be made from the same block casting. The engine number for the 159 gas engine is A40587 or A405816. The G-1096 for the transaxle case is used on all of them of that vintage. Does the grille wrap around the front of the tractor?
