I have been buying good second and third crop mixed alfalfa/grass hay for $50-60 a ton. I can't grow it and bale it for that kind of money. Especially when you consider you do not have to fool with any rained on hay.
We wrapped a bunch of our early dry hay so it is not weathering any. We are keeping it and buying the cheap good hay. I may not bale as much this coming year if we can carry a bunch over. I have several stands I would like to rotate so next year is looking like the eyar to do it.
