Around here it seems to be going the other way. Used to be several scrap yards, auto salvage yards that would let people go it and find what they need.
Not many left now, most have gone high tech. Paved yards, inventoried, only their employees allowed...
Along with the change, so did the prices! I find better deals online now, no longer have to brave the wrath of the junk yard dog or the yellow jackets!
As for the metal scrap yards, most will only buy. They don't sell to individuals, everything gets sorted and sold by the ton. A real wast too, amazing what gets sent to the scrap yard!
