unless you are wanting to pull a dozer around with the truck get rid of those 5;13's ! yes it is a stump puller but no mater what engine you run it will get terrible mileage with those, if you dont want to rebuild the 307, you can keep it simple and put a 350 in there, depending on what you want the truck to do, 4;11's or if its now just a cruiser even 3;73's will make it have livable fuel economy, i have a 83 with 411's 1 ton dually its heavy at 8800 lbs and i get around 12 mpg if i dont have my tractor on behind it, my 1980 chevy 1 ton dually has a 454, with 4;56's and that gets 6 mpg! i can only imagine what 5;13's get!
