Baling all day with my JD 2750, doing just fine, but toward the end of the day when I went to restart, nothing, starter just barely turned the engine over and then didn't have enough to get more than a click out of the solenoid. Jumping did not do the trick. turns out that the batteries are 8 years old and even though they have done fine with a battery tender, I think they are toast and will replace them tomorrow. If that doesn't solve the problem (alternator has been rebuilt by the way)I will pull the starter and try to see if the solenoid is burnt. So here's the question: can I tow this tractor in neutral the 1/4 mile to my shop, or is it going to do something awful to the HI LO? I have heard stories about ruining the hi lo by towing the tractor in gear to try to start it, but can I just tow it home where the tools and conveniences are?
