I turned the engine over by hand, it was too easy, no compression at all, I have a spare engine that is in good shape that I'll probably swap out. In the meantime I took the mower off and mounted it on my "A" Farmall. Just 6 bolts and bingo, NOT. I had to adjust the length two inches to clear the front tires, I had 14.9X24 on it and had to change them back to 11.5's to clear the deck. Then had to change the pto from the "B" to the "A" since the "A" has the larger pto shaft and the mower uses the smaller one. What I thought would be a snap, took all day, but I got it done and will add trans oil tomorrow and try it out. Got one grease zert that won't take grease, but not a problem, can fix that in a jiff. Happy mowing now.
