They are good mowers I have owned several over the years. Never seen one that was set up for a small PTO shaft. All of mine were on small PTO tractors and used an adapter sleeve. If you have reason to remove the gear box check it closely to see if there is one stuck in it. Make sure you have the gear box aligned with the PTO and not just hanging on it when you tighten the braces otherwise it quickly wears the PTO shaft, or the gear box , or both.
