I had Japanese beetles bad one year in the berries, and tried to make up my own home-made mixtures, Dawn soap, horseradish, all sorts of home made mixtures. 7 or 8 homemade remedies, nothing actually worked, I finally used old tried and tested Sevin, sometimes Malathion as I recall. Make sure and follow the label, if you use them. I did discover one thing, the Japanese beetles just needed to be sprayed once or twice in the season, and only on the very tip tops of the plants, that's where they alight as they fly in and feed. Don't know about your beetles.
