If the generator works when the field is grounded engine running (you said it did) the issue is the regulator. The regulator voltage control grounds the field to make it charge. If the F terminal on the regulator shows zero ohms to ground (shut off) maybe the wire from the F on the gen to the F on the regulator is bad. If it does not show ground (zero ohms to ground) at the F terminal shut off, the regulator may be ungrounded (the regulator must have its structure grounded to the tractor). Make sure of this. If still no ground at the F terminal of the regulator (not running) the regulator is bad. Jim
