If the dealer wasn't alerted to mishaps like this he wouldn't be aware of what his employees are doing. This is not a big mishap by any means but it still happened and the dealer's reputation is reflected by the quality of the work his people do. It sounds like this employee was making other mistakes too if he had already been let go.
