WD-45, stuck in first gear

I was mowing with my tractor and do to my own carelessness
I hit the clutch to stop, and my momentum carried me up a large
mound of dirt, which my frontloader rammed into. In this position
unable to get out of first gear. Fortunately my hand clutch works
well and I was able to disengage the pto. I had to get my truck and
winch the tractor back enough so I could turn into my pasture and drive
back to the shed. It will still not come out of first gear.
Did my momentum jam the shifting fork in 1st? I also need help getting the
cover off below the shift lever, my technical shop manual is worthless for
lay people.
