: : : : I am interested in a PTO driven chipper. What do you like and don't like. Recommendations? Thanks! : : I have a PATU DC-40. It is a manual feed unit for up to 4" sticks, driven by a 20 HP John Deere Diesel. It works very well for me. I was a bit leery of the manual feed, but properly sharpened and adjusted knives will "self feed", pulling the stick into the chipper. The tractor doesn't even know the chipper is there, once the flywheel is up to speed. So far, I can't think of a thing to complain about, I'm very satisfied. : What brand is the PATU DC-40 that you have?? What does one cost?? : Thanks PATU is the brand name. They're made in Scandanavia, (Finland, I think). Mine was about $2600, but that was shortly after a big ice storm here in the North East and limbs were down everywhere, so chippers were a hot commodity. You might be able to find one for closer to $2300. I'm pretty sure they're carried nationally.
