I've had few problems with gasahol, but I store it in sealed containers and try to use fresh fuel. Older fuel gets mixed with fresh to use in a vehicle with fuel injection.
Roughly 1/3 of the US corn production is used to make ethanol, about 5.28 billion bushels of the 14.54 billion bushels produced in 2016 - https://www.afdc.energy.gov/data/10339 . That is slightly more than the amount of corn feed to livestock in the US. Ethanol use has benefited corn producers at the expense of livestock producers. What would the corn inventory be today and what would the price of corn be today without ethanol use, around $2 per bushel or less?
Also what would meat prices and meet availability be without ethanol use? Lower feed costs could make $2/lb pork chops and $5/lb T-bone steaks available again, and still be profitable for livestock producers.
I like clean air and energy independence as much as most other people, but I also like to eat good inexpensive meat.
