In the past I have been using ethanol free gas in my '64 Ford 2000 4-cylinder tractor and I starting to rethink this for a couple of reasons. 1) It is a pain in the rear to go out of my way to get the gas, and 2) it is 30 cents more expensive per gallon then the ethanol gas which equates to $3 more each time I fill my tractor up.
I have been told that the ethanol will dry out your rubber gaskets and seals. But as I think about it a little more, there are only a few rubber gaskets in my fuel system that are constantly exposed to gas. One of them is in the fuel sediment bowl, there is one o-ring in the sediment bowl valve stem, and the other is in the carb needle seat. The rest of the fuel system is steel lines, brass fittings and cast iron carburetor.
Am I missing something here? I seems to me like it is worth using the ethanol gas to save time and money, and take the chance of having to replace $5 in gaskets every two or three years (worst case).
