: I am in the process of restoring a Super A. Someone told me to use a 8-Volt battery, to help turn it over faster. Is this Ok with the electrical system. Is it ok to charge it up with a 6-volt battery charger? I have a 12V battery charger, and it doesn't seem to charge the battery correctly, so I stopped. Now you need an 8 volt battery charger. Fix the connections and clean up the 6 volt starter, give it new bearings and brushes and 6 volts will do just fine. You can't charge an 8 volt battery with an automatic 6 or 12 volt charger. Only with a manual charger made to ignore battery voltage where you check the specific gravity of the battery with a hydrometer and control the manual charger that way. Which is way to much bother for most of us. Gerald
