OK, forgive my ignorance - you would think after farming for 40 years I would know this but I am attempting something new.
The generator in my 54 Chevy grain truck bit the dust. Right now I have the 1100 gallon water tank in it and use it everyday. I am going to have it rebuilt but need to use the truck each day (yes, it is staying 6 volt so don't bother with other options - I want it original as it is a family truck). I have a 6 volt generator that I had rebuilt for an 8N tractor that I never used. Will the regulator for the generator that's on the truck work with the 8N generator? The reason I never used the generator was that new regulators are such junk and I couldn't ever get a reliable one. I just switched that old tractor over to 12 volt. The regulator on the truck is the original and perfectly good. I would think that it would work with a different generator but I wanted to check. After all, It's just a cutout and a monitor to raise and lower the output of the generator. I know it likely wouldn't charge enough to keep the battery up if I used it at night, but I only water once a day during the day. I just need it for a week while my guy has the other one apart.
