My best guess is iffffffffffff its the right voltage and iffffffffffff the polarity is correct (some VR's are for POS ground others NEG) and ifffffffffff both are for the same Class, A or B (a few Fords used B while the truck is likely an A) it may "work" for a while until either the Generator or Regulator craps out. Those old tractor gennys had low amp ratings and the VR may try to supply more field amps then the genny can stand before overheating is one worry.
While it might "work" its just not something Id recommend
