I've seen the Hy-Trol valve on tractors with both the vane- and piston-type pumps. The vane pump was found on models through ROUGHLY the first half of '53 when the piston pumps took over. Many vane pumps were replaced by piston pumps as the standard replacement part was the piston pump. : : : If I were you, I'd start by replacing the pressure relief valve and all of the seals in the lift cylinder and draft control mechanism as they are much cheaper than pumps to replace or rebuild though not necessarily easier. We've replaced the seals several times and the valve once on our '53 but have yet to do anything to the pump. : : : The I&T shop manual helps a lot in dianosing the problem and helping you through the fix the first time.
