Case 530 Loader/Backhoe problem

I own a Case 530 CK backhoe with a torque converter transmission. The problem is that when the tractor is slowing down, the right rear wheel locks up. If it is shifted into a low gear and shifted between forward and reverse, the wheel will break free with a load noise. The noise appears to be coming from the rear differential. I removed the differential cover plate for a look, but did not find anything that was obvious. No broken teeth or any metal parts in the bottom of the differential housing. I have owned this tractor for about 5 years and this problem just started. Once the wheel breaks free the tractor can be driven at any speed without any problems. Any ideas ?
