Are you a plastics salesman??? Put a plastic fendered new tractor next to an old steel fendered tractor in a hot Texas field for 30 years, then whack the fenders with a sledge hammer. You are going to have to replace the plastic fender, but just hammer the dent out in the steel one. Also the "computer controls" and sensors on the new tractor will be toast, but the other tractor wil require a whole lot less to get going. Plastics and computers have a place in this society, or else no one would be reading this. Yet to believe that products should be made to purposely break or wear out, just to provide someone a job, goes against everything this great country was built on. If John Deere (the man, not the company) had made plows that lasted only 5 acres, and then needed to be replaced, we would not have "green and yellow" tractors today (old or new) and our farming system in this country would not be anywhere near as developed. But that is just my opinion. We need to make things the best that can be made, and reap the benefits or pay the price if the competition beats us.
