They go by your birthday. When you buy a new or used one you pay sales tax when you get the title transferred. My county is 7%. On a NEW one if you trade in you only pay tax on the difference. So far this is a one time only deal no other taxes per year. Liability insurance is mandatory. But if you have anything decent you get full coverage.
