: : I have a 9n Ford with oil in the water. There is not any water in the oil. Does anyone know what causes oil in the water and what to do about it? Thanks : I would speculate that since (I am guessing) your radiator cap does not produce a pressure on the water system that with a leaky head gasket your oil pump is pushing the oil into the radiator but since there is no pressure in the water system...no water in the oil. I'd retorque the head bolts and try again. Hope this at least gives you a place to start. But since the 8N is a flat head engine there's no need for oil in the head so no reason for oil to get to the water past the head gasket. Though I suppose there could be a block oil passage to the cam shaft that's closed by the head gasket being simpler than tapped plug. I'd be more suspicious of a block crack near a camshaft oil line with the oil pressure being higher than water pressure to make the motion prefer oil to water than the reverse. The only way to get lots of oil to the head gasket is to be burning it in the cylinders, so the engine needs to come apart for rings and probably boring in that case anyway. Gerald
