I just repaired a Case 830 inline pump for the same trouble. On ANY brand inline pump, only takes ONE sticking, or stuck plunger to keep the rack from freely moving as it should. Take the round two flat cap off the front of pump, remove the screw with shims in the rack end if it has one. Now remove one of the side cover screws and thread it into the rack for a "handle". Loosen ALL lines at the injectors so engine will not start. Now with a starting jumper switch, or helper crank the engine while by hand pushing/pulling on the rack bolt, if you are LUCKY it might free up after engine/pump have made several revolutions, if not, pump needs to come off for more serious attention. DO NOT BEAT ON THE RACK!! That can break gear segment teeth inside, making problems worse..
