Hi All,
I have recently come across a 1938 Case model L for sale. It appears to be in good running condition on rubber with what seems to be factory electric start and generator. The owner is firm at $2500. Picture should be attached.
This would be my first Case tractor, though I have very little experience and knowledge with this type as I primarily have older Farmalls. That said, I have a few questions.
How hard is it to/where can I find parts for these? How many were made with electric start and a generator? Anything I should look out for specifically or overall on this type of tractor? From what I was told they just have one brake pedal, mainly as a parking break. Mostly would bring this to shows, though might consider pulling it as well. Has anyone else here tried pulling one?
Did tractors with a generator not have an oil filter? I found another L currently for sale in the photo ads with a starter but no generator, and what appears to be the oil filter behind the magneto. Due to the generator on the one I am looking at, the magneto appears to be pushed back to where the oil filter should be.
Last question, is the price reasonable? All I have seen in my area previously are the newer styled Case tractors which typically aren't worth that much around here so I do not have much to go off of. The closet to compare I've seen locally is a case C for $1,100 in similar condition but not running. The one for sale on this site is in WI for $1550 (third picture) in similar condition though without the generator.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Journey to Ankeny - by Cindy Ladage. We left Illinois on the first day of July and headed north and west for Ankeny, Iowa. Minus two kids, we traveled light with only the youngest in tow. As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
